The Quiet Folklore Collection

In January of 2022 I hosted my first solo exhibit as a Freelance Artist, titled "Quiet Folklore and the Things No One Knows". The common themes of the exhibit centered around folklore tales from different cultures, occult, and paganistic themes. Most of the watercolor paintings were in black and white, relying heavily on shadows and highlights to create depth within a two-dimensional art piece. While some of the paintings could be seen as strange, the subject matter is intended to be juxtaposed between the eerie style and the enchanting folktales and cultural stories being told within the piece itself.

Fat Raccoon Blocks Path

Have you ever had your path blocked by a fat glowing raccoon who refuses to get out of the way when you are in a hurry to get to work? I know I sure have.

Midsommar Dance

Midsommar is the Swedish celebration of the summer solstice and a celebration of life and love. Usually celebrated on June 24th with lots of food, flowers, and festivities, Midsommar is also celebrated by some people by staying awake throughout the entire night and dancing around a campfire until you can't dance anymore. This ancient pagan holiday is meant to be spent with the ones you love while appreciating all of the beauty and love life has to offer.

Sacred Spirit

This spectral moose was inspired by 2 stories my best friend told me. In her Ojibway culture northern lights are believed to be the dancing spirits of ancestors in the afterlife: it is thought that when you die, your soul ascends towards the night sky and joins the auroras- when you see the northern lights flowing across the sky it is peoples souls celebrating after being reunited with their loved ones.

Moose are also considered a sacred animal in her culture; representing strength, courage, and prosperity. White moose are considered even more sacred than an average moose due to their rarity. To kill a white moose is believed to be the utmost of offences and will bring about luck so terrible that it is possible you will die within a year.
